Hello all you Loveli Photography fans!

My favorite time of the year is just around the corner, with it many changes. Next year is going to be a fast paced one for me- I will be graduating in May 2013 and with it being my last semester I know it will be a very hectic one with internships and media production (omg I can't wait!) I will take the summer 2013 off from school, but will continue on to doing another year at the University of Texas in Brownsville (don't worry I'll still be in Houston) in the Fall, this is all an online diploma that I will be pursuing.

I don't know if you have realized this about me, but I am a person who likes to achieve things and learn anything new. With that said, I will probably be limiting the sessions that I do per month between January and May and will be more than likely close off June because after 5 years of being a full time student I think I deserve to make another of my dreams come true and travel to Spain. This is all in planning mode, but as always will continue to update everyone with new things happening at Loveli Photography.

I want to Thank you from the bottom of my heart (really can't express how thankful I am) for being part of my life for this past year and a half. I wanted to give 2 deserving families a Christmas session for free and gift a toy basket to 2 children (boys and girls; ages 2-8).

To give other’s a chance at winning something at Loveli Photography, anyone that has won something in the past does not qualify for this contest (includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners).  This contest will be done in a lottery type of form similar to the Happy 1st Birthday drawing. I will only accept 1 entry per family, so if submit your name for the family session- do not submit your child's name for the gift basket.

Dates:

*Family Session entries will be accepted beginning Friday, September 28 to 10 p.m. Friday, October 12th. Winners will be announced on Monday, October 15th

** Winners will be selected at random through a drawing **

Rules (Family Session):

• Only 1 entry per family
• This is not a most popular contest so no pictures will be posted for liking.
• Family can be up to 5 people. Family session is only for your personal family, if your family has more than 5 people (in example: you, your spouse and 4 children) that is ok, if you have more members in your family please let me know and we can work something out.
• You will schedule your family session appointment no later than December 9, 2012. 

Ready? Here are the steps for the Family session:

1. Invite at least 3 new friends to LIKE Loveli Photography and leave a comment tagging you as the person who referred them.
2. This step does not earn you an entry, but only after you have completed both steps- send me an email to Loveli.Fotography@gmail.com with the subject "Loveli Holidays" and include the following details:

-  Name, Phone number, number of members in family and ages of kids.

- I, (your name), have completed all steps, have read the information regarding this drawing and understand how this will be played. I agree to follow all of the rules stated.

CHILDREN GIFT BASKET:

I will put all children that I have worked with in this past year 2012 and put their name in the drawing. I will select a name at random and winner will be announced the day I announce the families that won the sessions. Gifts will be delivered to child by early December.

Happy 1st Birthday Contest

"A One-year-old child is so many things-- A tiny discoverer of butterfly wings, a hugger of teddies, a sweet sleepyhead, and someone to dream for in bright years ahead..."



 I don't have kids of my own, but I know how special a child's 1st birthday can be. For that I decided to do this contest and give many a chance to win other than do, what seems to be a popularity contest, when it comes to having a picture liked. This way all will have a chance at the big price. I love children and seriously cannot wait to be able to have one of my own. I think this has been one of my most desired wishes, but only God decides when to send him/her to me. So while that happens, I enjoy seeing the smiling faces of these wonderful little ones, trying to crawl or walk to momma, or in one case when Bella (pictured in the center)was crawling to me to give me a big hug! These days for me are some of the best, the sound of their voices makes me giggle and brings a new something to my day. Good luck to all of you and can't wait to capture more smiling faces to add to my albums.

You all will have the opportunity to submit an entry and put your child’s name 3 times for a greater chance to win. The 3 ways you can get their name submitted is super easy!  Keep reading so you can see what steps you need to take to get their name in!

Dates:

Entries will be received between Today, Wednesday, May 23^rd- 11pm, Tuesday, June 5^th. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 6^th. Since I will be in California from June 6^th-June 10^th and so that all can see that winner was selected at random and fairly, I will have my friend Veronica, from Turista Accidental Photography record as we pull out the winning name from the bowl.  There will also be 2 other winners, but prices will be different for all 3.

Qualifications:

·         Child must be 8 months (not about to turn) to recently turned 1 year in May.  I selected for the contest participants to be for kids 8 months and 1 because the photo shoot cannot happen after August 31^st. I want to give one of you moms a free photo shoot of your child’s first milestone and that is their 1^st birthday! Whether he/she will be turning 1 in a few months or is already 1 and all that is missing is their pictures! :D

·         Must be a fan of Loveli Photography

·         Have not won in any of my previous contest before.

·         When sending your email, please include the subject as "Happy 1st Contest", your name, phone number where you could be contacted, FB page, child’s name, his/her birthdate (month/day/year), favorite colors, and statement (see Step 4).

Rules:

·         Make sure that you meet all qualifications before you do so.

What's coming in the next couple months

May is here and almost gone or so it seems as I have been keeping a busy schedule myself with school, my first job and then my photography. I can't complaint though, I am one lucky girl to have these wonderful things and it is my determination to succeed that keeps me on my toes always going.

Even though I recently learned that I have a broken part of my tibia and may need surgery...this could only mean that I will be out for a while, hoping not too much. For the meantime, I have been delaying my MRI, but after that surgery will be talked about with my doctor. To tell you the truth, I'm a bit scared since I have never been in a hospital, at least not admited into one. I'll keep everyone posted as the time comes around.

 For now I wanted to talk about the season all high school/college seniors have been waiting, for what seems a lifetime...Graduation Day! I've had the opportunity to photograph several wonderful high school and college seniors and can't say Thank you enough for allowing me to be part of this accomplishment.

After spending a few hours with these girls and guy I began thinking about something special to give out to at least 4 grads and an opportunity to get some free announcement cards, prints and yes of course a senior shoot for free! I began researching and found that many photographers are allowing some Seniors and Juniors to be something that is called  "Senior Reps." What this means for Loveli Photography is that I will be working on this over the summer to begin this Senior Rep program in which it allows current Seniors Class of 2013 and Juniors that are Class of 2014 to be Loveli Photography's Senior Reps and get some specials as well as get a free photo shoot session and the extra goodies (still planning out this part). So if you're interested and are about to be a Senior Class of 2013 (high school and college seniors) or are about to be a Junior Class of 2014 stay alert to my blogs because I will be posting information on how you can become one of my Senior Reps and you can submit your application beginning August 2011 (yes my anniversary month!)

In the meantime I leave you with a few sessions of this past weekend's Senior Class of 2012 from Pasadena Memorial High School. It started a bit crazy due to our chosen location being busy with some sort of marathon going on, but finally got it started at Discovery Green and found several spots in where the girls were just being themselves. The pictures show their personalities and how outgoing they are! I had such a blast with both and am very happy with the end result! Kassandra and Libby, Thank you for being such great models and girls! I wish you the best in your future endeavors and congratulations once again!

Memorable Time (Cake Smash!)

I am so thankful for all the blessings God has been sending me, since Loveli Photography started. Im very happy to know that my work is appreciated and loved, more when I get recommendations from past customers and even people whom I haven't had the opportunity to meet- they mention my name and pictures. Well yesterday's session was a sweet baby girl turning one and although every session I have is a memory for me, this one was to be my first ever Cake smash session! Her mommy contacted me during the week and immediately booked a session for her daughter and this was all within 3 days! I was absolutely amazed and grateful. Although I have posted pictures of Victoria's 1st Birthday pictures and cake smash session on facebook, I leave you with a few more just so you can see what I got to experience yesterday afternoon in Baytown, TX.  Thanks to her mommy for believing in me and my work, I truly appreciate it, more so, for allowing me to capture these wonderful memories of her daughter's 1st birthday!

Mommy's Little Ballerina :) Actually her mom had her stand up as she is barely learning to walk and gave me this stand on tip toe when she was trying to walk to mommy!

Surprisingly she did not attack the cake, like a little lady she only grabbed from a corner

She had enough and started crawling away :) SO PRECIOUS!

What To Wear?!

This is by far one of the most asked question I get, but I don't mind because I am here to help in deciding what to wear for that special photo shoot day! Here is some information you may want to consider when choosing what to wear. Later on  in another blog, I will post pictures with color combinations for you to have a better idea.

What you do want to avoid when looking for the perfect outfit:

-Avoid the dominant colors (Red, Bright Yellow, Hot Pink) as the main colors. The camera can pick up reflected light from the clothes and also when it comes to editing these colors will bleed.

-Avoid different colors or looks in the group. Stick to at least two main colors.

-Any clothing with logos. Avoid these as they only create a distraction to the face.

-White socks or bright white shoes.

-Avoid the "uncomfortable" feeling. Ladies- do not wear a skin tight shirt or dress if you're going to feel uncomfortable with it or a small shirt that will have you pulling on it all the time. (Just a suggestion)


What to look for:

-Solid colors with little or no pattern

-For women- wear a belt or something that will help create the hour glass figure.

-Don't wear shirts that fit too big

-Shoes that fit with your outfit

-Accessories that add, but not overwhelm.

-Ladies bring that makeup bag. A little retouch is necessary with this Houston weather every now and then.

A Little Spring Cleaning & Shopping

In only 3 weeks I will be closing shop because I will be relocating to be closer to my full time job and school. I'm very excited about this new move; I can actually set up my own little office to do all the Photo editing and have some great help from a wonderful friend. Even though it is not Spring yet, I have started packing and getting rid of things at home that I don't need, so with that I was able to get a new lens for my camera and new software! I was super excited yesterday when I came home with 3 new design softwares (Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator) and am even more excited to start utilizing them!

I guess you can say I'm a new photographer in town, yet my passion for Photography extends more than as being something new. The idea each photographer has when taking a picture comes from within an own personality or from the help of other photographers who don't mind sharing their ideas or tricks.  I do think that what defines us as artist, is the own personal touch we put into each photo we take. It may be an idea you saw somewhere, a thought someone passed along, or even at that a thought of your own, but what doesn't change is that our visions are all different, no matter how similar they are. Contradicting it may seem, but putting some thought into it, No one thing can be repeated the exact same way. Don't you think? Therefore, every photo is unique in its own way.

This is an example of what I was talking about- I learned this neat new thing (new for me) by reading Click It Up a Notch blog. She does fantastic work and I am thankful for the many tips! Here are my results of this new found idea!
